(Hong Kong, 15 August 2022) – Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) announced today that Jaguar Microsystems (JaguarMicro), a unicorn of data processing units (DPUs) for next generation data centres, has joined the fast-growing Innovation & Technology (I&T) ecosystem at Science Park. JaguarMicro has been establishing its international operations in Hong Kong and just completed its Series A+ funding round from HKSTP and other investors.

Founded by Hong Kong-born Dr. Sunny Siu, a Ph.D. from Stanford University and a former MIT endowed chair associate professor, JaguarMicro is focused on developing the industry's most advanced programmable DPU solutions to meet exploding data centre and cloud computing needs, driven by modern AI, big data, IoT, cyber-security and the emerging metaverse.

Shenzhen-headquartered JaguarMicro has recently reached unicorn status to further establish Hong Kong as a breeding ground for high tech unicorns, a fast-rising hub for advanced microelectronics innovation and a truly world-class I&T ecosystem.

Albert Wong, CEO of HKSTP, said: “We are excited to see the arrival of JaguarMicro which shows Hong Kong has proven itself as a strategic location with access to global market opportunity, world-class R&D, global investors and I&T talent. Last year, we have repositioned the three industrial estates in Tai Po, Tseung Kwan O and Yuen Long into INNOPARKS to realise research & development (R&D) into economic output. The Microelectronics Centre (MEC) in the Yuen Long INNOPARK, which supports the development and pilot production of new generation microelectronics products, would be able to attract more global pioneers from microelectronics innovation to the city.”

Dr. Sunny Siu, founder and CEO, JaguarMicro said, “I am excited about working with some of the world-class talents in Hong Kong and expanding our R&D team in HKSTP. Hong Kong is also a strategic location for establishing our international operations.”

Dr. Siu leads a core team at JaguarMicro, with many of them having over 20 years of experience in the semiconductor industry. The company has gathered a team of world-class silicon and software experts formerly from renowned semiconductor leaders such as Broadcom, Intel, Arm, HiSilicon (Huawei), and Alibaba.
