The HKSTP Pavilion featured 24 Park companies and their innovation in a showcase of the growing world-class biomedical ecosystem in Hong Kong

(Hong Kong, 19 May 2023) – Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (“HKSTP”) demonstrated its’ continuing mission to advance biomedical technology (BMT) development by participating in three BMT flagship events in May. These included the Hong Kong International Medical and Healthcare Fair (Medical and Healthcare Fair), the Hospital Authority Convention 2023 (HA Convention), and the Asia Summit on Global Health (ASGH). HKSTP showcased BMT innovations and solutions from 24 Park companies through the HKSTP Pavilion in the annual Medical and Healthcare Fair.
The extensive line-up of HKSTP Park companies and their innovations is an effort of promoting the understanding of medical development among industry players and the public. While the Medical and Healthcare Fair provides further exposure and partnership opportunities for the Park companies on show.
Mr Albert Wong, CEO of HKSTP, had the honour to speak at of Hospital Authority Convention representing the biggest I&T ecosystem in Hong Kong. He said: “Over 60 health and hospital innovative technologies from park companies in HKSTP are currently deployed in all clusters of Hospital Authority contributing to smart hospital development. The deployed solutions include plug and play type as well as co-creation tailored for individual user preference and improving efficient management. In HKSTP, we’d continue to deepen our engagement and become a close partner to HA on the technology immersion program for HA professionals and data collaboration.
Mr Wong’s keynote abstracted insights from McKinsey’s recent report on “The Next Frontier of Care delivery in Healthcare.” He shared his views that modern healthcare must be built on three pillars including being enabled by new technology, patient-empowerment and driven by data and tech. He also added that HKSTP has currently over 1,300 park companies and is committed to supporting HA from the planning to commissioning stages in their hospital development project.
HKSTP’s participation in the three BMT events is another display of its support to the HKSAR Government’s Primary Healthcare Blueprint, which aims to reform the primary healthcare sector through technology and a shift to more community-based health services.
The HKSTP Pavilion at the Medical and Healthcare Fair showcased tech solutions from 24 Park companies under four different categories: Medical Device, Rehabilitation, Remote Monitoring & Care, and Screening & Diagnostics. Guided tours were also offered to Government officials and various partners like representatives from the Hospital Authority and hospitals, NGOs such as The Hong Kong Council of Social Service and Hong Kong Lutheran Social Service, LC-HKS, and partner universities such as Hong Kong Metropolitan University.
The 14th Hong Kong International Medical and Healthcare Fair 2023 organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) took place from 16 to 18 May 2023, while the Hospital Authority Convention 2023 and the Asia Summit of Global Health were held on 16-17 May 2023 and 17-18 May 2023 respectively.
