Dr. Sunny Chai is the Group Managing Director of Fook Tin Group Holdings Limited, and a Member of the Supervisory Board of its wholly owned subsidiaries - Scaime SAS (France), Terraillon SAS (France) and Arpege Master K SAS (France). In 1988, Dr. Chai graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business from Rochester Institute of Technology, USA. After graduation, he joined the family business - Fook Tin, which has been found since 1963. A series of revolutionary business reengineering programs were carried out by Dr. Chai in the area such as IT systems, research and development, and factory operations, etc. Additionally, Dr. Chai had written the first ERP system for the company in 1988, which was used until 1993. The marketing refinement of Fook Tin's product ranges, particularly the introduction of consumer scale range brought the company to a new era. Continuous expansions in various areas have enhanced the Company's capabilities in manufacturing and product development.
He was awarded the Bronze Bauhinia Star (BBS) in 2018 and Silver Bauhinia Star (SBS) in 2023 by the HKSAR Chief Executive commending his outstanding contributions to the promotion of innovation and technology development in Hong Kong. He was also appointed as Justice of the Peace in 2021. He was conferred a University fellow by Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2018, an Honorary Fellow by CIty University of Hong Kong in 2022, an Honorary Fellow by The Chinese University of Hong Kong and Honorary University Fellow by Hong Kong Baptist University in 2023. He received Distingished Alumni Award from City University of Hong Kong in 2022 and the Young Industrialist Award of Hong Kong in 2004.
