UV radiation induces the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and free radicals, resulting in accelerated melanin production as well as DNA damage. According to our research, Dendrobium plants contains a large amount of DR2-type stilbenoids, which can greatly reduce the production of ROS and free radicals, thereby significantly improving the effect of oxidative stress. DR2 and derivatives can significantly attenuate oxidative stress under inflammatory conditions in vitro and in vivo by inhibiting the production of malondialdehyde (MDA) and protein carbonylation products, as well as the activity of NADPH oxidase. DR2 stilbenoids can also significantly inhibit the activity of tyrosinase in order to reduce the melanin production, and thus achieve the effect of skin whitening.
Our patented DR2 compound has dual functions of anti-aging and anti-melanin activities. We applied it to formulate our skin care cosmeceutical products with the brand of "S&L" in order to develop a series of Dendrobium whitening skin care products. The dual functions of DR2 make it as an ideal ingredient in our skin care products that not only can protect the skin from damage but also prevent sunlight-induced darkening.
