Professor Sun Dong visits Science Park Gaining Insight on the Development of Local Microelectronics and Nanotechnology Companies

(Hong Kong, 3 March 2023) - Professor Dong Sun, Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry, visited Hong Kong Science Park today to exchange views with four deep-tech companies. Accompanied by Mr Oscar Wong, Head of Business Development and Ir Dr H.L. Yiu, Head of Re-Industralisation of Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP), Professor Dong Sun gained insights on the vision and opportunities of the microelectronics and nanotechnology companies in relation to promoting deep-tech development in Hong Kong.

The companies visited were Cloud Light Technology Limited (Cloud Light), which designs and manufactures advanced optical modules; JSAB Technologies Limited (JSAB), an enterprise that focuses on the research and development of power semiconductor devices; Master Dynamic Limited (Master Dynamic), which specialises in the development and application of nanotechnology, and Solomon Systech Limited (Solomon Systech), a company that provides display IC products and system solutions. Nurtured and homegrown through the local Innovation and Technology (I&T) ecosystem, these four companies were founded and led by technology experts passionate about nurturing I&T talents. The companies have a number of registered invention patents and are equipped with advanced laboratory facilities in Science Park to support their development and have proven success in innovation translation and commercialisation of R&D outcomes across different application areas.

The Hong Kong SAR Government has promulgated Hong Kong’s I&T Development Blueprint (Blueprint), which sets out four broad development directions and eight major strategies to promote Hong Kong as an international I&T hub. HKSTP is committed to providing a well-established I&T ecosystem and comprehensive support for the development of technology enterprises, including incubator and accelerator programmes, infrastructure, laboratory facilities, etc., to support the incubation of companies. In addition, through exchanges and collaborations with stakeholders across government, industry, academic and research sectors, HKSTP plays an active role in promoting the development of I&T and industrial upgrading and driving more innovation.
