HKSTP and the GBA Development Office Co-organise “Greater Bay Area AI+ & Investment Exchange Seminar”

Centred on the transformative potential of “AI+”, the seminar facilitated meaningful business connections while highlighting Hong Kong's unique advantages as an international financial, and legal services hub as well as the global talent hub to attract industry professionals. Participants explored how mainland enterprises could leverage Hong Kong's global connectivity to expand internationally, while Hong Kong businesses gained insights into mainland market opportunities. The event's rich programme of keynote speeches, case studies, interactive discussions, and live demonstrations provided deep insights into how AI+ technologies are reshaping industries and driving economic growth throughout the GBA region.
Ms Maisie Chan, Commissioner for the Development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area said: “AI technology is a new engine driving a new round of technological revolution and industrial transformation. The GBA possesses solid technological strength, abundant talent resources, diverse application scenarios and complete industrial chains, creating unprecedented possibilities for the vigorous development of AI. The HKSAR Government has always supported the local I&T sector to strengthen exchanges and interactions with the Mainland, especially the cities in the GBA, to promote complementary advantages of Hong Kong and the Mainland cities in the GBA, and jointly build a more comprehensive and globally competitive I&T industrial chain, realising the vision of establishing the GBA as an international I&T hub.”
Ms Gracie Ng, Chief of Staff of HKSTP, remarked: “Hong Kong serves as a premier springboard connecting mainland China with global markets. By aligning Hong Kong's unique advantages in global networks, business environment, financial system, and scientific research talent with national priorities, we are building an open, vibrant I&T ecosystem. Our enhanced collaboration in technology transfer, demonstration and application projects, and standards alignment will empower businesses to 'bring in' and 'go global' while tapping into opportunities from GBA and the nation’s strategic industries – accelerating industrial transformation through technological innovation and expanding our influence in domestic and international markets.”
The seminar featured thought-provoking perspectives from distinguished speakers including Professor Hon Wong Kam Fai, Member of the Legislative Council of the HKSAR, who analysed macro trends in AI+ development, and Mr Philip Har, Acting Commissioner for Innovation & Technology, who outlined Hong Kong’s professional support services available to technology enterprises and startups.
