HKSTP Kicks-off “Robots Everywhere” Programme for  Accelerating Automation and Robotics Technology Adoption

Hong Kong, 26 June 2023) – Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) has launched the first cohort of its inaugural Smart Campus Challenge, “Robots Everywhere” Programme. The programme aims to recruit enterprises that are developing smart city and sustainable innovation technologies, providing them with adoption opportunities at Hong Kong Science Park to accelerate the implementation of innovation and technology in the market. 

The “Robots Everywhere” Programme cohort will run from June to October, during which HKSTP will recruit both local and overseas enterprises to provide automation solutions for campus cleaning and patrolling. The initiative’s goal is to enhance the operational performance of the Park, offering participating companies a unique opportunity to test their automation and robotics technology across campus. 

Dr Crystal Fok, Head of STP Platform at HKSTP, said: “As a campus-scale living lab in the city, HKSTP offers real-life scenarios for global enterprises to test, refine and validate innovations. Through the ‘Robots Everywhere’ Programme, tech ventures can unlock business collaboration opportunities and jointly transform Hong Kong Science Park into a smarter campus. We are excited to share our knowledge and experience with technology application with the industry, fostering confidence in the adoption of innovative solutions and further accelerating validation and commercialisation of innovations across Hong Kong businesses.” 

Filla Mak, Head of Operations and Leasing, HKSTP, added: “With the ‘Robots Everywhere’ Programme, we will implement more market-ready solutions at the campus, which will help  enhance the operational efficiency of facility management. This will also drive cooperation between the industry and tech ventures, with HKSTP taking a leading role in encouraging industry partners to adopt and expand the application of proven innovative technologies.” 

In addition to “Robots Everywhere” for Smart Facility Management, HKSTP will launch four more themed cohorts in the future, including Smart Navigation with LBS (location-based services), Edutainment@Experience Centre, Green Tech for Energy Harvesting and Know Your Customer 360. Each cohort will see tech ventures leveraging real-life scenarios at Science Park as the ideal test ground. 

As part of the Smart Campus Challenge launch event, HKSTP hosted a fireside chat “If failure is not an option, why is success so rare?”, featuring ecosystem leaders discussing technology adoption’s key factors for success. This open dialogue created an environment that fosters innovation and collaboration by bringing together solution seekers and solution providers.
