HKSTP & China Resources' "Beyond Dreams" Ignites Cross-Sector Innovation: Government-Industry-Academia Power Hong Kong I&T Growth
(Hong Kong, 2 February 2026) — Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) and China Resources (Holdings) Co., Ltd. (China Resources Group) today co-organised the Achievement Showcase of the “Beyond Dreams” programme, a joint programme launched in 2023 to nurture innovation and entrepreneurship. The event highlighted the programme’s substantive achievements since its inception.
Bringing together over 120 distinguished guests, including government representatives, innovation and technology (I&T) enterprises, strategic partners, young entrepreneurs, and members of academia, the event was officiated by Professor Sun Dong, Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry of the Hong Kong SAR Government; Mr Wang Cuijun, General Manager of China Resources Group; and Dr Sunny Chai, Chairman of HKSTP. In their speeches, the officiating guests highlighted the programme’s success in effectively integrating corporate resources, professional networks, and national development opportunities, creating a synergy that has injected new momentum into Hong Kong’s I&T ecosystem and further accelerated the city’s I&T development.
Professor Sun Dong, Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry, affirmed the effectiveness of the "Beyond Dreams" initiative: "The programme has now attracted over 400 young people from Hong Kong. Through internships, professional training, and mentorship, they have gained a comprehensive understanding of the entire innovation and entrepreneurship process, as well as the challenges they may encounter—a truly valuable experience. I thank HKSTP and China Resources Group for organising the ‘Beyond Dreams’ programme, and I hope you will continue to provide more opportunities for our young people to understand Hong Kong’s I&T ecosystem, encouraging and inspiring them to pursue innovation and entrepreneurship.”
In his address, Dr Sunny Chai, Chairman of HKSTP, said, “We are fully committed to integrating into and contributing to the nation’s overall development strategy. The ‘Beyond Dreams’ initiative reflects this commitment by synergising China Resources Group’s vast industrial strengths with HKSTP’s vibrant I&T ecosystem. The programme provides all-round support to local I&T talent, ranging from internship opportunities and entrepreneurship guidance to incubation and market access. Talent lies at the heart of I&T. We will continue to collaborate, uphold an innovative spirit, pursue ongoing exploration, and work together to build Hong Kong into an international I&T hub, contributing to the nation’s high-quality development.”
In his speech, Mr Wang Cuijun, General Manager of China Resources Group, said, “China Resources Group actively responds to the national strategic deployment to support Hong Kong in building an international innovation and technology hub. Through the ‘Beyond Dreams’ programme, we assist Hong Kong youth in innovation and entrepreneurship, and foster a collaborative innovation ecosystem involving government, enterprises, parks, academia, and capital. We focus on talent cultivation, industrial upgrading, and Greater Bay Area synergy to promote the transformation of scientific research outcomes, facilitate complementary advantages between Hong Kong and the Chinese Mainland, and contribute the strength of a central state-owned enterprise to Hong Kong’s integration into the national development agenda and the realization of technological self-reliance and self-strengthening.”
Three Strategic Pillars Nurturing a Holistic I&T Ecosystem
The “Beyond Dreams” programme has demonstrated tangible impact through three core programmes: the “Hong Kong Student Internship Programme,” the “China Resources x HKSTP Ideation Programme,” and “China Booster.” Together, these pillars form a comprehensive framework for nurturing I&T development.
Over the past two years, the “Hong Kong Student Internship Programme” has supported more than 400 university students from leading local, Chinese Mainland, and international institutions — including the University of Oxford, Imperial College London, the University of Toronto, and the National University of Singapore — in securing internship opportunities with over 200 companies within the Hong Kong Science Park ecosystem. Survey results show that more than 90 per cent of participating companies were satisfied with the interns’ performance, while over 80 per cent indicated their intention to offer full-time positions upon graduation. At the same time, over 90 per cent of the interns expressed a desire to pursue careers in the I&T sector after completing their studies. Notably, around 10 per cent of the participants have gone on to continue their careers within Hong Kong’s I&T ecosystem, underscoring the programme’s success in attracting and retaining young innovation talent.
The “China Resources x HKSTP Ideation” programme has attracted a total of 125 start-up teams covering areas such as life and health technology, green technology and new energy, and construction technology. In addition to receiving financial support, participating teams have enhanced their practical business skills through thematic workshops, industry visits, and professional mentorship, helping them to validate their innovative ideas and develop sustainable business models.
The “China Booster” initiative harnesses China Resources Group’s strong industrial resources and networks across Hong Kong and Chinese Mainland to provide customised support for I&T companies seeking to deepen their presence in both markets. Through targeted scale-up support, participating enterprises gain access to Mainland resources and supply chains, enabling business expansion and cross‑border growth.
At the Achievement Showcase of the “Beyond Dreams” programme, participating I&T talents and representatives from start‑up companies shared their experiences, inspiring more young people in Hong Kong to pursue careers in I&T and boldly realise their dreams. Jointly launched in 2023 by the HKSTP and China Resources Group, “Beyond Dreams” is a five‑year initiative made possible through a donation of HK$100 million from CR Charitable Fund Limited. The programme empowers young innovators and entrepreneurs in Hong Kong, nurturing a more vibrant and sustainable I&T ecosystem.
