Channeling his curiosity into technological pursuits, Hasan Gadjali spent years specialising in image compression and processing technology. In the 1980s, he helped standardise the JPEG and MPEG technologies, now widely used for capturing everyday moments through photos and videos. As Co-Founder & COO of Meridian Innovation Limited, he continues to work on imaging advancements, using his long career in digital imaging at OmniVision to successfully develop a low-cost CMOS (Complementary Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor) process thermal imaging sensor. This disruptive technology can measure heat, sense the invisible in the dark, as well as detect moving persons and differentiate life objects with AI. Designed for mass production, it opens countless possibilities for consumer applications in the health, safety, and environmental sectors. Born in Indonesia, Hasan earned his Electrical Engineering degree in San Diego, California.
