Truly recognise the success and encouragement for Hong Kong in building its Innovation and Technology (I&T) ecosystem and offering care and support to young I&T talent and entrepreneurs

(Hong Kong, 30 June 2022) – Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) is deeply honoured to have the privilege of President Xi Jinping’s visit the Science Park during his presence at the celebratory activities of the 25th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the Motherland. This is truly a recognition of the success and encouragement for Hong Kong in building its Innovation and Technology (I&T) ecosystem. During his visit, President Xi met with young I&T talent and entrepreneurs at the Park to offer care and support, while encouraging HKSTP to continue its key role in driving I&T advancement and developing Hong Kong into an international I&T hub. We would like to express our most sincere gratitude for his kind support. 

Dr Sunny Chai, Chairman of HKSTP said: “We offer our warmest welcome to President Xi Jinping in his visit to the Science Park and we are deeply grateful for his acknowledgement of the I&T progress in Hong Kong. With his kind attention and support from our country, we will definitely leverage the unique advantages of Hong Kong with long-term technological and industrial strategies to support “innofacturing”, drive reindustrialisation, develop a diverse economy to create opportunities for the younger generation who will propel Hong Kong to new levels of prosperity. We will seize the opportunities under the 14th Five-Year-plan and the Greater Bay Area to deepen the integration between Hong Kong and Shenzhen with the development of the Northern Metropolis, San Tin Technopole and the ‘Twin cities, Three circles’ initiatives. As Hong Kong celebrates with great significance its 25th anniversary of returning to the Motherland, we are dedicated to expanding our I&T ecosystem and talent pool, as well as advancing the city to be an international I&T hub. We will strive to realise Hong Kong's I&T potential and unveil a new chapter for Hong Kong’s I&T ecosystem.” 

Mr Albert Wong, CEO of HKSTP said: “We are proud to welcome President Xi Jinping in his visit to the Science Park. Hong Kong’s I&T development has progressed rapidly and is flourishing. 'The success of our partner companies is our success’. We hope to foster overseas expansion and global connection of Hong Kong’s I&T ventures by combining the city’s R&D capabilities, competitiveness and talent with HKSTP’s foundation and experience accumulated over the past 20 years. HKSTP will persist in advancing the growth of I&T development and wholeheartedly commit to enabling the translation of promising research and development by entrepreneurs and academics from I&T ventures into market-ready impactful offerings, connecting investors for fundraising, as well as expanding markets and seeking business opportunities. The Science Park will also continue its expansion, while collaborate extensively with stakeholders from government, industry, academic and research sectors to attract and nurture local and overseas talent, as well as foster more I&T success with the ultimate goal to establish a vibrant, diverse and thriving I&T ecosystem.”
