HKSTP’s Response in Relation to the Lease with Secure Information Disposal Services Limited (SSID)

29 Jun 2023

Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) has always maintained close communication with Secure Information Disposal Services Limited (SSID) (also known as Mil Mill) and has made every effort to provide appropriate support to SSID, assisting them in a smooth relocation from Yuen Long InnoPark.

HKSTP is committed to promoting Hong Kong's I&T ecosystem development strategy from research to innofacturing and repositioned its three industrial estates as InnoParks in 2021, setting forth eight guiding principles to drive "new industrialisation" and "innofacturing". Among them, the Microelectronics Centre (MEC) in Yuen Long InnoPark is expected to begin operations next year. To accommodate MEC's development needs, HKSTP is reconfiguring its land use for nearby sites, including the land and factory used by SSID for short-term lease purposes.

The original lease between HKSTP and SSID was for three years until the end of 2021. In response to SSID's need for more time to find a suitable new site for relocation, HKSTP previously extended the lease with SSID for one year until the end of 2022. Subsequently, to accommodate SSID's operational needs, HKSTP further extended the lease with SSID twice, with the lease now set to expire in September 2023.
