
(Hong Kong, 21st July 2025) – The Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) announced today the appointment of Mr Terry Wong as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Mr Terry Wong will assume office on 1st August 2025, succeeding Mr Albert Wong who will be stepping down following a tenure leading HKSTP since 2016.
Mr Terry Wong brings to HKSTP over 30 years of global executive leadership, having held senior management roles across Asia Pacific, the Middle East, Europe and the United States. His experience spans smart mobility, infrastructure, smart city and energy sectors, with deep expertise in corporate strategy development, capital project and organisation management, corporate finance and cross-border investment, as well as spearheading major innovation and technology initiatives.
Prior to joining HKSTP, Mr Wong served as Executive Director of Regional & Urban Mobility at NEOM, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s flagship smart city development. He led the Mobility Sector and was responsible for the strategic planning, investment, delivery and operations of NEOM’s smart mobility systems and innovative business models, including autonomous, zero-emission and digitally integrated transport technologies.
Mr Wong also spent over a decade at MTR Corporation, where he held a number of senior executive positions, including CEO of MTR’s Australian and international consultancy businesses. He led major urban transport and infrastructure projects, overseeing investment, delivery and operations across Sydney and Melbourne’s metro networks, and served as Chair of the Boards of the respective metro companies. His early career includes regional leadership roles at Shell and in the banking sector, with a focus on project finance and portfolio investments.
Dr Sunny Chai, Chairman of HKSTP, welcomed Mr. Wong’s appointment, “Mr Wong’s extensive international experience, profound financial acumen, and leadership in infrastructure as well as innovation and technology development make him exceptionally well placed to guide HKSTP in charting our next chapter. His global fluency and ability to navigate both East and West will be key as we strengthen Hong Kong’s unique role as a nexus for global innovation. With Mr Wong’s strong capabilities and track record, I am confident that, together with HKSTP’s management team, he will be able to build on our solid foundation and continue to lead HKSTP to scale new heights for our ecosystem and accelerate our establishment as an international innovation and technology centre while collaborating with the HKSAR Government as well as other stakeholders.”
Dr Chai also paid tribute to outgoing CEO Mr Albert Wong who will complete his tenure as CEO on 31st July, “Over nine transformative years, Albert expanded HKSTP’s impact through landmark initiatives that have strengthened our ecosystem to attract global tech ventures and talent; facilitate world-class research and development; and enable capacity to serve the future. Albert leaves behind a legacy defined by imagination, determination, and a deep belief in Hong Kong’s innovation potential.
