HKSTP Hosts Inaugural "Co-Development and Investment Conference" and Unveils First Batch of Co-Acceleration Fund Investees, Building a Tripartite Alliance of Tech Ventures, Investors and Industry Partners
(Hong Kong, 7 September 2026) — The Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) today hosted its inaugural “Co-Development and Investment Conference” and officially announced the first batch of portfolio investments under the “Co-Acceleration Fund” (CAF). The six-day conference begins with a two-day programme at Hong Kong Science Park, covering global deep-tech investment trends, strategies for technology companies going global, industry application scenarios, AI & Data Science, Electronic & Robotics, Life & Health Technology, and Sustainable Materials & Technology. The programme will subsequently move to Dongguan in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Hangzhou in the Yangtze River Delta, where participants will have in-depth industry collaboration and exchange with the local innovation and technology (I&T) ecosystem. Activities will include visits to local innovation and technology (I&T) incubation centres and pilot-scale testing facilities, as well as roundtable discussions, startup pitching sessions and industry scenario-matching activities with local enterprises and investors.
As Hong Kong’s largest I&T flagship, HKSTP is committed to fostering a “tripartite alliance” comprising tech ventures, investors and industry partners, jointly advancing Hong Kong’s I&T development and creating global impact.
With nine Limited Partners (LPs) and assets under management of HK$500 million, the Co-Acceleration Fund operates under HKSTP’s Co-Acceleration Programme. It is Hong Kong's first public-private partnership (PPP) private fund managed by a statutory body of HKSAR Government that the initiative is dedicated to the I&T sector. The programme combines HKSTP’s extensive experience in accelerating the growth of tech ventures with the industry resources, investment expertise and market channels of its LPs. It provides enterprises with strategic support beyond capital, accelerating technology validation, commercialisation and international expansion.
Mr. Paul Chan, the Financial Secretary officiated at the opening ceremony as Guest of Honour, while Ms Lillian Cheong, Under Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry, delivered a keynote address. Ms Cordelia Chung, Chairman of HKSTP, and Mr Terry Wong, Chief Executive Officer of HKSTP, joined leaders from the I&T, investment and industrial sectors to witness a new milestone in Hong Kong’s I&T ecosystem.
The conference brings together capital-market participants, tech startups ranging from seed to Series B, and industry and technology leaders. It aims to foster a strong tripartite alliance connecting tech ventures, investors and industry partners.
Delivering his remarks at the conference, Mr Paul Chan, the Financial Secretary, said, “It is a pleasure to join you at the inaugural Co-Development and Investment Conference. I must say the name of this conference goes straight to the heart of the matter: co-development and co-investment. When capital markets and the technology industry are properly connected—when they work as one—innovation accelerates.”
“We are building a capital ecosystem that works for start-ups and serves innovation. Behind all these efforts is a simple vision: that a company at any stage of its development can find the right capital partner in Hong Kong. And our proposition is straightforward. We want global investors and innovators to meet each other—right here.”
Propelling Innovation from “Idea” to “Execution”
Ms Cordelia Chung, Chairman of HKSTP, said in her address, “Coming up with an innovative idea is not easy, but the real challenge is what comes next—how to bring the technology to market, secure customer validation and scale up. HKSTP provides the platform and bridge to make this happen. For the first time, HKSTP brings a ‘tripartite alliance”, under one roof: enterprises, investors and industry leaders. It is more than a networking event—it is an efficient engine for commercialisation. As HKSTP begins celebrating its 25th anniversary, our goal for the next chapter is to further enhance the quality of tech ventures, expand our footprint and deepen collaboration throughout the innovation journey. Let us work together to go ‘Broad and Deep, Far Yet Near.”
First Batch of Investments Focuses on Four Breakthrough Deep-Tech Areas
The conference officially announced the first batch of investee companies under the Co-Acceleration Fund, comprising four high-potential technology enterprises:
- e-SENSOR: A graduating company from HKSTP’s Incubation Programme and a Shenzhen “Seed Unicorn” enterprise. The company develops self-powered wireless Internet of Things sensor systems. Its static thermoelectric conversion technology enables zero-wear, maintenance-free operation, helping companies in the energy, petrochemical, nuclear power and industrial sectors accelerate their digital transformation. Its products have already been deployed by a number of large corporations.
- FluviusH2: An HKSTP incubatee that uses biological enzymes to catalyse water electrolysis for the production of zero-carbon green hydrogen. Its team comprises members from the University of Oxford and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and is actively exploring applications in areas including drones, heavy-duty transport, shipping and healthcare.
- Akerf Robotics: A developer of multifunctional, AI-powered wall-climbing inspection robots. The company provides automated inspection and maintenance solutions for manufacturing and infrastructure facilities worldwide, advancing contact-based robotics and human-robot collaboration.
- FST Space: A company specialising in the research and development and manufacture of reusable heavy-lift launch vehicles and 200-tonne full-flow staged-combustion liquid oxygen-methane engines. It aims to overcome core technological bottlenecks and advance low-cost, highly reliable commercial space transportation and the deployment of global satellite constellations.
Record Number of Graduating Startups Strengthens Hong Kong’s I&T Ecosystem
Meanwhile, a record 895 startups have graduated from HKSTP’s Ideation, Incubation and Acceleration Programmes. These comprise 762 graduates from the Ideation Programme, 103 graduates from the Incubation Programme, 13 graduates from the Incu-Bio Programme, and 17 graduates from the Acceleration Programme.
The successive record highs in the number of graduates from HKSTP’s startup support programmes demonstrate the growing strength of Hong Kong’s I&T ecosystem. HKSTP provides an extensive network encompassing public- and private-sector partners, investors, universities and world-class technology companies. Together, they provide comprehensive training and support to local and international startups across different technology sectors and stages of development, helping them succeed and create an impact internationally.
