HKSTP Welcomes Hong Kong Ranks Fourth Globally in Digital Competitiveness Solidifying The City's Position as International I&T Hub
(Hong Kong, 4 November 2025) — Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) welcomes the announcement made by the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) today, in which Hong Kong rose and ranked the fourth place globally in the latest World Digital Competitiveness Ranking (WDCR) 2025. This achievement reaffirms the city’s strength as an international innovation and technology (I&T) hub, recognised on the global stage of Hong Kong’s advantages in digital infrastructure and top technology talent. HKSTP will continue to collaborate with various sectors to accelerate the translation of technological achievements, nurture leading technology enterprises and talent, and drive Hong Kong’s contribution to the digital economic development of the nation and the world.
Dr Sunny Chai, Chairman of HKSTP, expressed his delight at Hong Kong’s another I&T achievements, stating, “This ranking is a strong affirmation of the development of Hong Kong’s I&T ecosystem. It demonstrates the city’s unique strengths under ‘One Country, Two Systems’ and its role in connecting the world and the mainland with the support backed by the motherland, bringing together global top-tier technology talent and capital. It also reflects our excellence in foundational research and its translation into tangible outcomes. As a driving force of I&T development, HKSTP will continue to enhance the I&T ecosystem, advance the development of new quality productive forces, fully support Hong Kong in maintaining its leading position in global digital competitiveness, and contribute to the nation’s goal of building a technology powerhouse.”
The national 15th Five-Year Plan emphasises “promoting high-quality development and actively developing new quality productive forces.” HKSTP has built an I&T community of over 25,000 members and is now advancing at full speed of the development at the San Tin Technopole campus INNOPOLE. HKSTP aims to expedite the campus developmemt and operation, leveraging “AI+” to drive the upgrade and transformation of multiple frontier industries, foster diversified economic development in Hong Kong, and inject strong momentum into the cultivation of new quality productive forces.
