HKSTP Chief Executive Officer will retire after contract completion in July 2016
(Hong Kong, 21 March 2016) - The Chief Executive Officer of Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (“HKSTP”) has decided to retire after completion of his current contract on 21 July 2016.
Since Allen joined HKSTP as the Chief Executive Officer in July 2013, he has been instrumental in leading the Corporation from strength to strength. To take the Corporation to its next phase of development, Allen redefined the vision and mission of the Corporation and laid out the strategy to connect and collaborate with a broad spectrum of local and international stakeholders, to nurture talents, to enrich value added services and to expand infrastructure. These together have built a vibrant innovation and technology ecosystem that underpin Hong Kong’s ambition to reap substantial economic benefits through re-industrialisation.
Having grown the five technology clusters to form the three application platforms that address societal needs and crafted the expansion plans of Science Park and Industrial Estates, Allen noted in his letter to staff that "we are right at the center of the Hong Kong Innovation and Technology ecosystem connecting all the stakeholders to facilitate technology transfer and commercialisation." He further added that "through our events such as APAC Innovation Summit, we have been recognised as the thought leader defining 'the next big thing' for the innovation industry." With widespread support and endorsement from stakeholders including the Government, Allen is confident that HKSTP is well positioned for continued growth and development that will make the vision of “Innovated in Hong Kong + Designed in Hong Kong + Made in Hong Kong” a reality and shape a brighter future for the community.
Reflecting on the past three years, Allen said, “I am immensely proud of my committed team and grateful to the Board and management for their strong support to implement many bold initiatives that have taken HKSTP to new heights.” As the Corporation is now set to drive forward with its course, Allen believes that it is the appropriate time for him to hand over the helm in July and retire. He intends to spend more time with his family and on globetrotting.
The Board of Directors of HKSTP respects his decision. They thank Allen for his tremendous leadership and contribution over the past three years and his continuous support in managing through the leadership transition from now until the end of his term. The search process for Allen's successor has started immediately and the result will be announced in due course.
Fanny Law, Chairperson of HKSTP, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Allen for his contributions and leadership over the past few years. She commended that Allen joined the Corporation at a critical period of time and oversaw the successful strategic transformation of the Corporation. She thanks Allen for agreeing to continue to offer his advice and support to HKSTP as an ambassador.
