We are committed to nurturing local I&T companies. With our recent launch of new initiatives, enhanced programmes and support services, we are providing a wide range of support the start-ups need at their various stages of growth. We placed substantial efforts in enhancing our value- added services such as technical support, lab services, communications and marketing assistance, as well as accounting and legal consultation. We aim to incubate about 1,500 I&T companies over the next 5 years, building upon the strong and robust ecosystem we have in Hong Kong, and further capture the global opportunities for Hong Kong people.”
“The innovations and services we showcase today not only are solid proof of the creativity and R&D capabilities of our start-ups in Hong Kong, but also show their dedication in developing solutions that tackle the challenges faced among the Hong Kong community. This speeds up our progress of Hong Kong into a smarter city,” added George.
Four out of the five companies are incubatees of Hong Kong Science Park: Eco Link and Growgreen from the Incu-Tech Programme; FreightAmigo and Manson Webtech from the Incu-App Programme. Visiona MedTech is already an incubation graduate. HKSTP’s incubation programmes help companies in business areas such as investment matching, market access and business expansion. As of September this year, the programmes currently have over 260 incubatees. Since the inception of these incubation programmes, over 570 companies have graduated and they have won more than 600 innovation awards between them.
Recently, HKSTP enhanced its funding programmes and value-added services to help start-ups receive different types of support throughout their business lifecycles, in line with their needs. This include extending Incu-App’s incubation period to 2 years, and increasing the financial support for Incu-App and Incu-Tech programmes of up to HK$320,000 and HK$480,000 respectively. HKSTP will introduce a new seed funding initiative, Science and Technology Entrepreneur Programme (STEP), to provide subsidies for budding start-ups and enterprising individuals. Meanwhile, the support for Global Acceleration Academy (GAA) and Leading Enterprises Acceleration Programme (LEAP) will also be expanded to allow more high-potential technology companies to build a solid business foundation and prepare for their development.
