HKSTP and Green Accelerator Join Forces to Build Asia’s Leading Greentech Hub
Accelerating Commercialization, Bridging the Financing Gap, and Empowering Global Expansion
(Hong Kong, 12 October 2026) — Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) today announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the "Green Accelerator" (GA). The partnership will bring together HKSTP’s extensive innovation and technology (I&T) ecosystem, diverse application scenarios, and enterprise incubation resources, and GA’s leading expertise in global green finance and project financing. Together, the two organisations will help green tech enterprises cross the commercialization threshold, transform cutting-edge technologies into premium projects ready for international financing, and jointly establish Hong Kong as a leading green I&T hub in Asia.
The MoU signing was jointly witnessed by Ms Cordelia Chung, Chairman of HKSTP, and Dr Ma Jun, Chairman of Green Accelerator. The MoU was signed on behalf of the two parties by Mr Terry Wong, CEO of HKSTP, and Mr Philip Ng, Chief Technology Officer of Green Accelerator. The collaboration will focus on the critical stage in which green technologies move from R&D to market, fostering precise matching among technology, application demands, and capital, thereby creating environmental, economic, and social value for global green transition.
From Technical Validation to Global Financing: Scaling up Green Solutions
Under the agreement, HKSTP and GA will deepen collaboration to identify and nurture high-potential green tech ventures, helping them in exploring local and international markets, capturing commercial opportunities and expanding their real-world applications. HKSTP will recommend standout green tech ventures to participate in the "Green Accelerator" programme, enhancing their financing prospects and accelerate their path to commercialization.
To ensure effective implementation, the two teams will meet regularly with project experts, ecosystem partners, and industry stakeholders to connect innovation and technology with capital markets. HKSTP will also provide GA with access to designated premises as platforms and venues for business and engagement. This will help create a Greentech hub with strong reputation across Asia.
Launched in Hong Kong in September 2026, GA is a non-profit platform supported by philanthropic funding, dedicated to energy transition, climate resilience, circular economy, and sustainable food systems. By deploying philanthropic capital to support early-stage project preparation and technical development, GA transforms proven green solutions with market potential into high-quality, bankable projects that align with international investment standards, and creates new investable green markets in selected Global South countries.
Ms Cordelia Chung, Chairman of HKSTP, remarked: “As the global green transition reaches a critical phase, HKSTP helps I&T enterprises cross the 'Valley of Death' by providing real-world validation environments and targeted business matching, fully aligning with the Policy Address and Hong Kong's first Five-Year Plan. Capitalising on the rapid development of the Northern Metropolis, we continue to nurture green tech ventures, expanding application scenarios to translate cutting-edge innovation into tangible decarbonisation results for Hong Kong’s 2050 carbon neutrality goal. Our partnership with GA completes our full-chain support from R&D to project financing, while embodying our 'Broad and Deep, Far yet Near' vision through deepening tech-industry convergence and expanding our global footprint to bring green technology to communities near and far.”
Dr Ma Jun, Chairman of Green Accelerator, stated: "Globally, particularly across the Global South, a primary bottleneck for green investment is the shortage of bankable projects. The Green Accelerator is designed to alleviate this bottleneck by leveraging philanthropic capital to screen green technologies with 'Belt and Road' potential, transforming them into projects that meet international financial and banking standards. We look forward to comprehensive collaboration with HKSTP to enable green projects to secure pilot applications in Hong Kong before expanding overseas, fully maximizing Hong Kong's green tech and finance strengths."
Over 250 Green Tech Ventures and a Growing GreenTech Hub
Green technology is a core strategic pillar at HKSTP, which currently housesH over 250 green tech ventures within HKSTP I&T ecosystem. Since its launch last year, the GreenTech Hub has organised more than 100 professional events and facilitated over 360 business matching sessions. These connect green innovators with industry partners to cocreate market-driven solutions. Furthermore, park companies have achieved a series of “world-first” and “Hong Kong-first” breakthroughs in new energy, new materials, and ecological conservation. These achievements show the strength of Hong Kong's green technology, from local R&D to global application.
Looking ahead, HKSTP will continue to leverage its strategic cooperation network to connect I&T enterprises with wider application scenarios, industry partners and capital, further reinforcing Hong Kong's position as a green I&T hub with global influence.
