Future Ecopreneur Programme Demo Day Brings Public Together to Experience Green Technology Innovation
(Hong Kong, 31 July 2026) — Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) and Wofoo Social Enterprises (Wofoo), with the full support of Hang Seng Bank (Hang Seng), jointly launched the Future Ecopreneur Programme to nurture the next generation of leaders in sustainability and green technology. Held at Central Market on 27 and 28 July, the Programme hosted its Demo Day to showcase 46 eco-innovation solutions to the public. Participating teams presented how they have leveraged innovative technologies to address climate change, benefit communities, and advance green and sustainable development.
Interactive Experiences Showcase the Appeal of Innovation and Technology to the Public
The event attracted strong public participation, with many visitors engaging face to face with the green youth leaders participating in the Programme and learning more about the design thinking behind the eco-innovation solutions. Through fireside chat sessions, participating teams also shared their takeaways from the Programme, hands-on experience, and creative inspiration, enabling the public to gain a deeper appreciation of the immense potential and practical applications of innovation and technology (I&T) in daily life and sustainable development.
The event also featured complimentary DIY workshops for everyone to enjoy, offering visitors the chance to experience the fun of hands-on creation. Heung Yau, a natural incense brand, hosted a sachet making workshop, encouraging participants to make scented sachets using natural materials, connect with the essence of nature, and promote sustainable development. Eco-start-up define CLEAN also held an Eco Bath Bomb workshop, teaching participants how to make natural bath bombs while promoting the message of green living.
An AI photo experience zone was also set up at the venue, where visitors could instantly generate personalised AI animated images after having their photos taken. By bringing I&T into everyday life through engaging interactive experiences, the zone attracted many visitors to take part.
Focusing on Climate Resilience and Community Needs Youth Present Diverse Green Solutions
The Future Ecopreneur Programme aims to nurture a new generation of green youth leaders. This year, the Programme received 76 green innovation project proposals from participating teams. Among them, 18 teams were selected for HKSTP’s IDEATION Programme and will receive support, including funding and technical resources, to further develop their green ventures; a further eight teams were selected under the Community Innovation Solutions stream, themed around Climate Resilience.
Over the past year, with one-to-one guidance from non-profit organisations and industry experts, participating green youth leaders have successfully developed innovative solutions to pressing challenges brought about by climate change. Through a range of learning and development activities, including design thinking workshops, masterclasses, community-based practice and eco-tours, they have accumulated substantial hands-on experience and smoothly transformed innovative concepts into product prototypes. Some have even further incubated these ideas into ventures with commercial potential, comprehensively strengthening their business and operational capabilities.
Among the participating teams, 5 received awards under the Programme, including:
Grand Award: Herbal Resilience Refills developed a “natural rodent and mosquito repellent brick” formulated with natural ingredients, combining safety with long-lasting effectiveness.
Innovation Award: OceanLum uses AI-powered underwater image recognition to build marine ecological monitoring data, promoting marine conservation; Infra-medic developed smart sandbags made from environmentally friendly materials to reduce the environmental burden of river sand extraction.
Social Impact Award: EcoWing developed an AI-powered coastal waste identification and handling system to overcome terrain constraints and manpower limitations in clean-up work; Co-Breeze designed a three-in-one dehumidifier to address the cramped and damp conditions of subdivided flats.
Herbal Resilience Refills, winner of the Grand Award, said the Programme’s all-round support enabled the team to engage deeply with the community and pinpoint market needs more precisely. Mr Neil Shih, a member of the Herbal Resilience Refills team, said, “By gathering user feedback, we continuously refined our product technology. At the same time, with professional guidance from industry experts, we were able to successfully transform abstract innovative ideas into practical, implementable solutions. The Programme has not only accelerated the commercialisation of our research outcomes, but has also laid a solid foundation for us to deepen our engagement in the local I&T ecosystem and expand into the market.”
