(Hong Kong, 24 July 2026) — Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) and Wofoo Social Enterprises (Wofoo), with the full support of Hang Seng Bank (“Hang Seng”), jointly organise the Future Ecopreneur Programme to nurture the next generation of leaders in sustainability and green technology.
On Sunday, 26 July 2026, the Programme will host its Demo Day at the event space on the first floor of Central Market, showcasing 46 innovative eco-solutions. The event will highlight how young innovators are using technology to address climate change, support communities and drive sustainable development.
Demo Day Open to the Public
Demo Day will showcase a range of green projects developed by youth teams, who will share practical experience and creative inspiration. A series of workshops will also be held, offering members of the public the opportunity to enjoy hands-on creative activities. The event will feature an interactive AI photo zone, as well as complimentary DIY workshops on eco-friendly bath bombs and therapeutic sachets. Members of the public are warmly invited to attend, explore and take part.
Youth Teams Turn Innovation into Impact, Benefiting Communities and Ecological Conservation
The second Future Ecopreneur Programme commenced in March 2025 and received an enthusiastic response, attracting 76 green innovation proposals. Of these, 18 teams were selected for HKSTP’s IDEATION Programme, while a further eight teams joined the community innovation stream focused on Climate Resilience. Supported by non-profit organisations and one-to-one mentorship from industry experts, these teams developed innovative solutions to pressing challenges arising from climate change.
Over the past year, the selected teams took part in a diverse range of learning and development activities, including design thinking workshops, sustainability masterclasses, community service and overseas eco tours. Building on these experiences, the teams successfully validated their concepts, developed prototypes and progressed towards establishing ventures, while strengthening their commercial capabilities and deepening their understanding of global environmental issues.
The teams recently presented the concepts behind their innovative solutions and shared their implementation journeys at the InnoCentre. The event was attended by an expert judging panel comprising Mr Derek Chim, Head of Startup Ecosystem and Development at HKSTP; Mr Leo Chan, MH, Chairman of Wofoo Social Innovation Through Entrepreneurship (S.I.T.E.), attended the event alongside a panel of expert judges to witnessed the achievements of the programme.
Among the participating teams, Herbal Resilience Refills received the Grand Award for developing a natural rodent- and mosquito-repellent block. The team engaged directly with community centres and grassroots households to gain first-hand insight into the pest-related challenges faced by elderly residents. Building on these insights, they developed an environmentally friendly pest-control product made from natural ingredients, offering both safety and long-lasting effectiveness as an improved option for household protection.
Mr Neil Shih, a member of the Herbal Resilience Refills team, said the programme had provided comprehensive support, enabling the team to engage closely with the community and gain a clear understanding of real needs on the ground. “We continuously refined our technology in response to user feedback and ultimately developed a product that closely aligns with market needs. Throughout the research and development process, industry experts provided invaluable guidance, helping us to transform abstract ideas into practical and implementable solutions step by step. The programme has laid a solid foundation for the team’s integration into Hong Kong’s innovation and technology ecosystem, the commercialisation of our research outcomes, and our future entry into the market.”
Several other outstanding teams also received recognition for their innovative solutions. The OceanLum team developed an artificial intelligence platform that uses underwater imaging to identify marine life, build a long-term monitoring dataset and support marine conservation. The Infra-medic team created smart sandbags using environmentally friendly materials, reducing the environmental burden associated with traditional river-sand extraction. Both teams received Innovation Awards. In addition, the EcoWing team developed a coastal waste identification and handling system that effectively addresses the challenges posed by complex terrain and the limitations of traditional labour intensive clean-up methods. The Co-Breeze team focused on the living conditions of grassroots communities and designed a compact indoor dehumidifier tailored to the cramped and humid conditions of subdivided flats. Both teams received Social Impact Awards.
