The Battlefield is Set: APAC’s Biggest University Robotics Stage Returns to Hong Kong!
After a 14‑year hiatus, Hong Kong returns as the official host of the ABU Robocon International Contest, welcoming the largest international university robotics competition in the Asia-Pacific region back to our home ground!
Established in 2002, this prestigious event has grown into a powerhouse global talent engine, representing a monumental ecosystem legacy across the region, shaping generations of future-ready innovators and accelerating innovation, engineering excellence and regional technology development.
Building on the blazing momentum and local heat generated during June’s local contest, the local-to-international momentum will peak at the International Grand Finale on 23 August as the Queen Elizabeth Stadium arena transforms into a high-octane robotics battlefield!
The Grand Finale will bring together 16 elite university teams from 15 APAC countries and regions. This year’s roster features a shifting competitive landscape, marking the highly anticipated return of the Chinese Mainland, Macao and Kazakhstan! Who will take the ultimate crown?
Under the official theme "Kung Fu Quest", each battle will be an ultimate fusion of heritage and technology. Inspired by the strategy of Chinese martial arts, teams will translate legendary traditions into advanced mobility code! In a grueling three-minute high-stakes showdown, two robots from each team must work in flawless synchronization to conquer the arena.
Watch the sparks fly during the legendary Meihua Forest Quest, where manual and autonomous robots deploy proprietary image recognition, intelligent pathfinding, and responsive mobility algorithms to forge traditional weapons and hunt down hidden scrolls. The battle culminates in a high-speed "Giant Tic-Tac-Toe" finale, where real-time strategy and martial precision will determine who claims the ultimate title of Kung Fu Grandmaster.
