CARBON CAPTURE & STORAGE (CCS) LIMITED

Company

Carbon Capture & Storage (CCS) Ltd., established in early 2023, was co-founded by Professor Poon Chi Sun, Head of Department of Civil and Environment Engineering at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and Dr Shipeng Zhang, who leads a team of doctoral researchers. We are driven by the accumulated research patents from our years in university campuses and committed to applying eco-friendly technology to the field of construction, bringing about tangible transformations in daily life.
As a pioneering environmental company, we are dedicated to reducing carbon emissions and achieving waste recycling. Through innovative solutions offered by CCS, we have the ability to promote environmentally-friendly scientific techniques to every corner of society, seamlessly integrating them into people's everyday lives.

Our Beliefs

Vision: To be a pioneer in eco construction material technologies, dedicated to creating sustainable, low-carbon, and high-quality building material solutions that drive the construction industry towards a more environmentally friendly and sustainable future.
Mission: Our mission is to develop innovative research and technologies to reduce carbon emissions and repurpose waste into useful building materials, aiming to decrease the construction industry's reliance on natural resources and its impact on the environment. We are committed to researching and promoting high-quality, sustainable, and cost-effective eco construction material solutions to foster the comprehensive development of the green construction industry.

Technology

1. Waste regeneration:
With our carbonisation technology, we can regenerate waste materials such as discarded glass, wood, tyres, and concrete into green building materials. These waste materials can be reused, for example, as fillers, floor tiles, or aggregates in new concrete, thereby reducing waste in landfills and promoting sustainable building practices and carbon reduction.
2. Carbon capture:
Our carbonisation solidification technology can be used for capturing and storing carbon dioxide emissions. By transferring CO2-containing flue gas from industrial processes such as incinerators or cement production and coming into contact with concrete, CO2 can react with calcium hydroxide in concrete to form calcium carbonate, effectively sequestering CO2. This process helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promotes carbon capture and storage efforts.
3. High-value products:
Our carbonisation technology can also produce high-value products such as high-performance aggregates. The carbonisation process can enhance the mechanical properties of recycled concrete, making the aggregates have better strength and durability. These high-performance aggregates can be used in various construction applications, such as road construction, building foundations, and structural components.
4. Green supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs):
Our carbonisation technology can be applied to green supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs) such as fly ash or silica fume to improve their reactivity and enhance their performance as cement replacement materials. This helps in producing more environmentally friendly concrete and reducing carbon dioxide emissions.
