Pishon Biotech, established in 2025, is a green biopharmaceutical company launched with an initiative that focuses on pioneering innovative antiviral solutions for humans, companion animals, and livestock by harnessing the broad-spectrum antiviral potential of Justicia plants, a genus renowned in traditional Chinese medicine. By leveraging bioactive extracts from these plants, we aim to develop safe and highly effective health products for humans and animals, potentially targeting over 86 viruses that infect animals, with a prioritised focus on combating avian influenza viruses (AIVs), Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV), and coronaviruses that pose global threats to animals. Spearheaded by a professional R&D team at Hong Kong Baptist University—including professors and researchers with PhD and Master's degrees—the project builds on 30+ years of expertise in phytochemistry and natural product drug discovery. By integrating cutting-edge antiviral biotechnology with traditional knowledge, our goal is to mitigate the staggering economic losses caused by animal viruses, which exceed HKD 1 trillion annually, thereby benefiting both the Hong Kong and global economies.
