Ir Dr H.L. Yiu, Chief Corporate Development Officer of Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP), invited Professor Kam-fai Wong, a Legislative Council member and Associate Dean (External Affairs) of the Faculty of Engineering at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, who has extensive experience in engineering and information technology, to discuss the current trend, future opportunities, and talent needs of the local microelectronics industry.

Professor Wong emphasized the close relationship between microelectronics and daily life, highlighting the vast market opportunities they present. Dr. Yiu noted that start-ups in the past faced several challenges when researching or developing microelectronics technology, such as a lack of laboratory and factory facilities. The upcoming Microelectronics Centre, located in Yuen Long InnoPark and set to launch in 2024, will address these issues effectively.
