(Hong Kong, 3 April 2023) – Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) announced its commitment to achieving the Net-Zero Standard through the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) by 2045, five years ahead of Hong Kong’s Climate Action Plan 2050 Carbon Neutrality target. HKSTP is the first statutory body in Hong Kong to commit to net-zero by 2045 based on the SBTi.
As part of the international effort to limit global temperature rise to 1.5°C, HKSTP’s pledge aligns with the SBTi, a global body enabling businesses to set ambitious emissions reduction targets grounded in the latest climate science.
HKSTP is poised to achieve net zero emissions by 2045 through cultivating a vibrant green technology ecosystem. By driving impactful decarbonisation initiatives, HKSTP is leading Hong Kong's Innovation & Technology (I&T) sector towards a sustainable future. This effort sets a precedent for green & climate tech innovation and underscores the importance of acting sooner.

As part of the commitment to accelerate carbon reduction ahead of the target plan, HKSTP will be the leading ecosystem builder to advocate and drive sustainable climate I&T development, further catalysing Hong Kong as the international green tech and green finance centre.
