(只提供英文内容) Hong Kong Science Park based Dao Laboratory join force with leading Television and Digital Media Company, TVB.COM, to bring the first large scale next generation HEVC video technology to Hong Kong

(Hong Kong, 27 May 2016) - Hong Kong Science Park based company, Dao Laboratory together with TVB.COM, introduces the latest cutting edge video technology to Hong Kong. In a highly publicized launch event at the 17th April 2016, TVB.COM announces the OTT service, myTV SUPER, to the general public in Hong Kong.

Powered by a TVB branded Set-top box and mobile app, together with a wide range of local and overseas TV contents, this service raises the bar of OTT. Being the first of its kind in Hong Kong to deliver video with the next generation HEVC video coding standard, TVB.COM has chosen Dao Lab’s Volo encoding technology to fulfill such ambitious goal.

As the Head of Technical Engineering of TVB.COM, Rex Ching accepts no compromise; “As a leader in the new media space and being the the top content provider and television broadcast company in the region, we demand the highest quality in all aspect of our content delivery, video compression and transcoding time. Our collaboration with Dao Lab is a result of our long quest to look for the best technology that can fulfill our requirements and we are very satisfied with the results. A multi-bitrate transcoding of a 60-min video with HEVC Full HD profile can be completed within 30 minutes”.

Kit Tsin, head of R&D of Dao Lab, added “As the latest video standard HEVC brings a lot of promises but to truly deliver those promises require a lot of engineering optimization, speed is an achilles heel of HEVC and Dao Lab has successfully developed a parallel encoding technology to bring the highest quality HEVC compression in the shortest possible time, something that is crucial to the success of any HEVC deployment”.

The myTV SUPER OTT service has been officially launched on 18th April, 2016 and is available now.
