(Hong Kong, 3 March 2018) - Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) hosted “MakeiTYourCareer@SciencePark 2018”, the largest innovation and technology themed Career Expo in town, at Hong Kong Science Park today. The Expo attracted enthusiastic participation by employers and job seekers exploring career prospects within the city’s ever-expanding technology landscape.

Now in its eighth year, the Expo is billed as a must-attend platform for fresh university graduates and budding professionals who aspire to a successful career in the innovation and technology sector. The Expo this year featured more than 1,000 positions offered by 100-plus local, regional and international companies, including Bright Future Pharmaceutical Laboratories, Johnson Electric, SenseTime, Sierra Wireless and Lalamove. Participating companies are involved in a wide range of technology fields, including biomedical technology, electronics, green technology, information and communications technology and material and precision engineering. The jobs on offer ranged from technology roles, such as research and development, technical, data analyst, project management and programming, to other business functions such as marketing and operations.

For the first time, a rapid-fire talent pitch and an entrepreneurship sharing session were added to the programme.

In the “60 sec Talent Pitch”, selected job seekers were given one minute on stage to introduce themselves and increase their exposure to potential employers. Pitch participants were also offered the opportunity to join HKSTP’s CEO Shadowing Programme, spending a few days with senior executives to observe and experience high-level management routines and grow their knowledge of the innovation and technology industry. As well, senior executives from leading corporations such as Dunwell, TFI and social networking platform LinkedIn shared with the participants the latest recruitment trends in the technology field.

Nine start-up leaders also took to the stage for the “60 sec Entrepreneurial Sharing” segment, exchanging insights with job seekers on how to make an innovation a commercial success.

HKSTP CEO Albert Wong congratulated employers and job seekers on successfully making connections at the Science Park Career Expo. “There is no question that the innovation and technology field is a key pillar of the global economy. The sky is the limit for the future of all aspiring techies as long as they dare to come up with innovative ideas, no matter how implausible they may appear at the outset. It is very encouraging to see the ecosystem expanding at Science Park, with more jobs being offered at the Career Expo in addition to the job opportunities posted on our career platform. The innovative engine is fuelled by possibilities; I look forward to welcoming more young people as well as experienced professionals into our ecosystem.”

As one of the key driving forces for Hong Kong’s innovation and technology development, HKSTP is dedicated to nurturing talent. By hosting the Expo, HKSTP acts as the connector to create a vibrant I&T ecosystem that drives sustained growth and development for the industry.
