HKSTP Congratulates Fanny Law on Award of Grand Bauhinia Medal

(Hong Kong, 30 June 2017) - The Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation ("HKSTP") congratulates its Chairperson, Mrs. Fanny Law, on the award of the Grand Bauhinia Medal (GBM) in the 2017 Honours List, announced today.

Mrs. Law is awarded in recognition of her distinguished record of public service, in particular her significant contributions to promoting innovation and technology development in Hong Kong. Since becoming its Chairperson in 2014, she has among a string of other achievements successfully led the expansion programme of Hong Kong Science Park, which is now home to Hong Kong’s largest innovation and technology community.

The award citation also recognised Mrs. Law's work during her tenure as Member of the Executive Council, during which she made a substantial contribution in the formulation of public policies.

Albert Wong, Chief Executive Officer of HKSTP, said: "We are very pleased to see Fanny receive this award in recognition of her work at HKSTP and in government. At present, with more than 600 tech companies in Hong Kong Science Park employing over 13,000 people, it is the hotbed to some wonderfully innovative up-and-coming companies. Mrs. Law’s active involvement in recent years, helping to develop Hong Kong’s innovation and technology ecosystem, bringing together different industry leaders and stakeholders from Hong Kong and overseas, has played a very significant part in the growth of HKSTP and Hong Kong’s innovation and technology ecosystem."

Mrs. Law was one of 331 persons awarded this year by the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong SAR, the 20th full Honours List since Hong Kong's return to China.
