(Hong Kong, 13 April 2023) – Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (“HKSTP”) set up a Pavilion at InnoEX 2023 under the theme “Transforming Cities. Connecting Lives.” 13 Park companies, and their market-ready solutions for smart city technologies and applications, were featured for international experts and opinion leaders to promote cross-regional innovation and technology (I&T) collaboration.

HKSTP is committed to guiding innovative companies in realising the full potential of their smart city solutions and contributing to the development of Hong Kong as a smart city. By piloting their applications of innovations and through the Smart Campus in Science Park, Park companies are encouraged to co-create smart city solutions and engage in exchange of ideas with industry partners.

The 13 tech ventures showcased in the HKSTP Pavilion offer solutions for all levels of work to build a smart city from metaverse, management, AI to education. Application of metaverse related technological solutions helps improve customer experience for banking, education and tourism sectors; while the smart technology solutions from the tech ventures helps improve the efficiency in business operation as well as data processing and analysing. In addition, two seminars were organised to spark dialogues and exchange of ideas among the speakers from HKSTP tech ventures and the audience.

Chris Chan, Assistant Director, Incubation and Acceleration Programmes, Corporate Development Division of HKSTP, said, “Regional and international collaboration will continue to play an important role in the development of Hong Kong’s I&T ecosystem. Exchanges like these bring more opportunities for technology companies and start-ups to fund their next-generation strategies and lead the way towards realising the brighter, smarter cities of tomorrow. HKSTP believes nurturing these innovative ideas and getting them market-ready will fast-track a smarter future where humans are connected more than ever with technologies”.

Coinciding with the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the “Hong Kong/Shanghai Co-operation Conference”, the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer (OGCIO) and the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization launched the inaugural Hong Kong/Shanghai Co-operation Data Forum cum Open Data Challenge 2023 (the ‘Challenge’) at the InnoEX 2023.  HKSTP is pleased to announce its partnership in the Challenge.  The debut Challenge aims to promote the development of smart city via the applications of open datasets in Hong Kong and Shanghai. The event, which includes forums, training, and competitions, will serve as a platform for the exchange of ideas and foster closer ties between the two cities. The Challenge will open for applications from 1 May until 31 May 2023. Successful teams will have the opportunity to attend the final round of the competition, which will be held in August in Shanghai.
