InnoCell at Kowloon West Welcomes First Batch of Residents and Continues to Attract Global I&T Talent with Affordable and Quality Accommodation

An extension of InnoCell to cope with the demand arising from the expansion of our I&T ecosystem

04 Jan 2024

(Hong Kong, 4 January 2024)Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) organised a reception to celebrate the launch of InnoCell at Kowloon West with its first batch of around 40 residents. In response to the rising needs from our growing I&T population, InnoCell at Kowloon West was launched in October 2023 to provide more accommodation units to attract international talent.

Since its launch in 2021, InnoCell at Science Park has been providing short to medium-term on-campus living option for newly arrived talent, playing a pivotal role in attracting and retaining overseas talent. The response has been overwhelming that its occupancy reached 95% last year. Whilst the planning of a new InnoCell near Science Park is underway, HKSTP looks forward to the confirmation on project detail and commencement of construction works. In the meantime, HKSTP adopts a flexible approach to partner with Weave Living, a leading rental accommodation provider, to supply an additional 200 InnoCell units at Kowloon West as an intermediate measure to tackle the challenge.

Both InnoCells at Science Park and Kowloon West offer prime amenities such as smart-living, gym, game zones, co-creation spaces as well as engaging opportunities tailored for the I&T community. Shuttle bus services are available for residents to commute between Science Park and InnoCell. They can also explore different neighbourhoods, local cultures and the charisma of Hong Kong.

To strengthen the talent pool for establishing Hong Kong as an international I&T hub, HKSTP has initiated an array of measures to lure global talent including the provision of InnoCell. As of today, InnoCell has welcomed over 1,500 innovators ranging from start-up founders, researchers, scientists to executives from 35 economies, contributing to Hong Kong’s diverse and vibrant I&T ecosystem.

Joined by HKSTP and Weave Living representatives and Legislators, InnoCell residents enjoyed fun-filled activities and connected with each other at the reception. All newbies were given a welcome kit with souvenirs such as a specially blended “Spirit of Innovation” room and fabric spray and an exclusive Spotify playlist handpicked by HKSTP innovators and management, offering a taste of the unique “Work.Live.Play.Learn” culture of HKSTP.
