(Hong Kong, 22 December 2022) – Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) is excited to welcome the “Hong Kong Innovation and Technology (I&T) Development Blueprint” (Blueprint) announced by the Hong Kong SAR government, setting out a clear roadmap for Hong Kong's I&T development with four broad development directions and eight major strategies. HKSTP fully supports the Hong Kong I&T Development Blueprint and will continue to collaborate extensively with the government, industry, academic and research sectors to create synergies and realise our vision for Hong Kong to become an international I&T hub.

Sunny Chai, Chairman of HKSTP, said, “The Blueprint charts a clear way forward for Hong Kong's I&T development in the next five to ten years, which shows genuine intent to invigorate and inspire the community. The Blueprint proposes major measures such as enhancing the I&T ecosystem, promoting ‘new industrialisation’, enlarging the talent pool and more active integration into overall national development goals, which will further promote the Hong Kong I&T ecosystem, create new career opportunities for young people in Hong Kong, and inject impetus into Hong Kong’s economy.”

“With this further injection of support from the country and the HKSAR Government, the I&T industry will emerge as a core engine for Hong Kong’s next era of growth and forge a new future for all of Hong Kong. HKSTP will leverage the city’s distinct advantages to drive innovation. HKSTP supports the plan to build a new accommodation facility near Science Park, to attract and retain technology talent. While the Microelectronics Centre (MEC) at Yuen Long InnoPark is under construction, we are also exploring the construction of a second Advanced Manufacturing Centre at the Tai Po InnoPark, providing advanced infrastructure support to the industry, committed to Innofacturing Tomorrow and further boost Hong Kong’s vision for sustainable development.

HKSTP will also take advantage of the opportunities presented by the "14th Five-Year Plan" and the development of the Greater Bay Area, assisting enterprises to "go global" and consolidate Hong Kong’s role as a bridge connecting the Mainland and the world.”
