HKSTP Showcases City’s Biotech Ecosystem as a Platform for French Entrepreneurs to Scale and Go Global

Successful “Think Business, Think Hong Kong” event in Paris attracted 1,300+ participants to reinforce Hong Kong’s position as a global hub for biotech talent and enterprises

(Hong Kong, 20 September 2023) – Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) successfully completed a showcase of Hong Kong’s best biotech innovations and entrepreneurs at the “Think Business, Think Hong Kong” event organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) at Carrousel du Louvre, Paris on 19 September. The event attracted over 1,300 participants in total, of which over 1,000 were full-day participants.

Mr Albert Wong, CEO of HKTSP, said: “The “Think Business Think Hong Kong” event has highlighted the huge synergy and collaboration potential between the Hong Kong and French biotech ecosystems, which can propel startups and pharma corporations to global success. Biotech ventures need vital support across the whole startup to scale-up journey as the biotech innovation path is long and challenging. The four rising stars of Hong Kong biotech here at the event prove that HKSTP has the ecosystem to support the global ambitions of biotech innovators as well as establish Hong Kong I&T on the global stage.” 

The HKSTP thematic session and adjoining pavilion themed “Unlocking Asia’s Opportunities in Healthcare Innovation” received a positive response from the French biotech and pharma industry. Four world-class biotech experts from fast-rising Hong Kong-based ventures highlighted Hong Kong’s strength to propel innovation to global success, as well as Asia’s huge market potential as a global biotech growth engine.

A special gala dinner was held to conclude the event. It was attended by over 300 leaders of the French, European and Hong Kong business communities, including Mrs Valerie Valérie Pécresse, President of the Ile de France Region Mr Paul Chan, Financial Secretary of the HKSAR Government, Dr Peter Lam, Chairman of HKTDC, as well as the HKSTP delegation led by CEO Mr Albert Wong.
