HKSTP launches BFSI Accelerator 2022 enabling the best fintech startups to innovate with HK’s 18 Banking and Financial Services leaders

Startups to collaborate with sector leaders and HKMA to explore range of solution themes: Customer 360, Fraud Detection, Know your Customer/Anti-money Laundering, and Risk Management

16 May 2022

(Hong Kong, 16 May 2022) Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) has launched the Banking, Financial Services & Insurance Accelerator 2022 (BFSI Accelerator), adding strength and breadth to the programme with eight new partners totalling 18 sector leaders from the world of banking, financial services and insurance. From today to June 8, fintech startups can apply to join the BFSI Accelerator and receive exclusive access, collaboration and co-creation opportunities with diverse market leaders.

Dennis Shi, founder & CEO of Mojodomo, one of the BSFI 2021 participants noted how the BSFI Accelerator provided unique exposure for his emerging business. “Showcasing our fintech solution on stage to more than a dozen large BFSI companies, plus the following media engagement generated great exposure for us in attracting new customers and deepening relationships with existing customers. Nurturing partner and customer relationships usually take time and effort but with the support of HKSTP and the BFSI accelerator, we are able to reach the right audience and facilitate our pitching process. Our revenues have shown double-digit growth percentage after participating in BSFI 2021.”

Under this year’s 6-month programme, the combined talents from the startup and corporate worlds will focus on developing solutions and proofs-of-concept in the themes of: Customer 360, Fraud Detection, Know your Customer/Anti-money Laundering, and Risk Management. In addition to eight new partners, which make this year’s BSFI Accelerator the biggest and strongest programme to date, HKSTP’s Fintech Virtual Lab will be made available for data collaboration as a new initiative for BFSI 2022. Programme partners and innovators can make use of the platform’s data repository, listing and Open APIs for federated learning of tailored use cases, proof-of-concept (PoC) and testing. The Accelerator is also supported by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) via the HKMA-HKSTP Fin+Tech Collaboration Platform.

The BFSI Accelerator has already kicked off the search for the next big fintech game-changers and will take startups across three stages of innovation development from the discovery stage to mentorship and development to the interim review day in October 2022, when the PoCs will be presented for evaluation.
