THE BOARD
With effect from 1 July 2012, the Board consists of a total of 16 Members, including a Non-Executive Chairman and 15 Non-Executive Directors. The Chairman is appointed by the Chief Executive of the HKSAR Government whereas the Board Members are appointed by the Financial Secretary. All Board Members are appointed without receiving any honorarium for a term of two years and can be re-appointed upon expiry of their terms of office.
Board Members come from varied but relevant backgrounds with diverse skills and experience. They come from various business fields, including industry, finance, investment, trading, property, legal and accounting as well as from the academia. One member is a public officer, who is the Permanent Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development (Communications and Technology).
In November 2011, the Board of Directors was awarded the “Directors of The Year Awards 2011” by the Hong Kong Institute of Directors (HKIoD) for the directors’ professionalism and their substantial efforts in the practice of good corporate governance.
In November 2012, the Board Chairman, Mr. Nicholas Brooke was awarded the “Directors of The Year Awards 2012” by HKIoD for his outstanding leadership and commitment to corporate governance which is pivotal to the success of the Corporation.
