Background

Founded in December 2003, the Product Analysis Laboratory (PAL) was established under the support of the HKSAR government and the manufacturing industry to provide comprehensive product analysis services for product manufacturers. The material analysis laboratory (MAL) is one part of the PAL. PAL is an integral part of Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks' (Science Parks) Business Development and Technology Support unit, the PAL completes the overall strategy of the Science Parks in offering one-stop technology development support in Hong Kong, Asia and the world.

The PAL offers the most comprehensive range of advanced equipment worth over HK $200 million, including 22 state-of-the-art product analysis machines, which is the number one in the region, and its capacity keeps growing.

Leveraging Science Parks' state-of-the-art facilities, and Hong Kong's science talent pool, its sound business and legal framework, as well as its proximity to the China market, the PAL is well positioned to stay at the forefront of the product analysis space and become a leading, authoritative laboratory in the global arena.

Introduction

The Material Analysis Laboratory is an integral part of the technology support infrastructure of Hong Kong Science Parks Corporation for semiconductor, electronic, photonics and nanotechnology industries. It is equipped with advanced equipment for electrical, chemical, material, surface and micro-analysis, failure analysis, and design debug of new products.

The MAL analysis services cover four areas, namely semiconductor, photonics, nanotechnology, and Chinese Medicine*. Dedicated to offering objective, non-partisan product analysis reports, the lab has successfully completed a series of product analysis projects for multinational clients, and has won strong global recognition.

To facilitate high quality and precise analysis works, the lab is located in a secluded area away from railways and main roads to minimize the impact of vibrations. The lab features a world-class anti-vibration zone that matches the rigid Class-E laboratory standard. Manufacturers will be able to enjoy the most reliable, comprehensive yet economical professional analysis services in the region.

Objective

The MAL aims to facilitate commercialization of industrial products by providing product analysis support for virtually any electrical and chemical materials, and to identify design flaws and failure causes. The lab is dedicated to serving the tenants, incubates in Science Parks, local enterprises and universities, as well as product manufacturers on Mainland China, in Asia and across the globe.
