Solid State Lighting Laboratory

Objective

Solid State Lighting is one of the vital technologies for companies engaging in photonics product development. Hong Kong Science Park established the SSL Laboratory to provide total R&D solutions for product development in areas of displays panels, light emitting devices, and solid-state lighting, serving customers including Hong Kong Science Park tenants, SMEs, universities and industries in Hong Kong, mainland China and Taiwan.

Provides multidisciplinary laboratory facilities and equipment supporting R&D of panel displays and light-emitting devices.

Services

The SSLL provides a full range of technology supports to optoelectronics and solid state lighting industries on research and development of advanced products, from prototype, testing and measurement, to products qualification. The SSLL is equipped with a comprehensive range of advanced laboratory equipment for test and measurement of optoelectronics devices and lighting modules.

For solid state lighting devices, the Lab supports product performance test and verification for LEDs, small lamps, LED modules, etc. In Laser and LED devices, testing for international laser safety standard is developed to classify the product into different safety classes. For visible wavelength displays, the Lab offers testing services including viewing angle, contrast ratio, and luminance measurement
