Hong Kong Science Park (HKSP) is a hub for innovation that brings people and technology together. A US$1.5 billion 3-phase project occupying a total area of 22-hectares it is located on the scenic Tolo Harbour waterfront in the New Territories adjacent to the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Upon completion, The Park would cover a total gross floor area of 330,000 sq.m.
Inaugurated in 2004, Phase 1 houses a variety of sophisticated world-class facilities and time-shared laboratories with engineering support services for R&D activities, and supports industry in four focused clusters: electronics, biotechnology, precision engineering and IT/Telecommunications. To date, 155 technology companies benefit from technological clustering and the most advanced and comprehensively equipped laboratory facilities in the region including the Integrated Circuit Design & Development Support Centre, the Photonics Development Support Centre, the Materials Analysis Lab, the Wireless Communications Test Lab and the Intellectual Property Servicing Centre
Phase 2 will commence operation in May 2007, providing additional leisure and business activity facilities to the Park including:
• Two energy towers
• Two dedicated laboratory buildings and six R&D office buildings with areas dedicated for laboratory facilities altogether occupying 300,000 sq.ft. of Class A office space
• An auditorium with both function and exhibition areas
• Al fresco amenity area and open square forum
• Business centers, a clubhouse, retail shops and a food court
Phase 3 is scheduled for completion in 2011/12.
